Wipeout 2097

Wipeout 2097 cover

Wipeout 2097 – (personal opinion) My first ever Playstation game. This game, at that time, taught me about the differences between Sega’s Megadrive and Sony’s Playstation, especially the graphic differences, which left me astounded. Wipeout 2097 is a racing game. But no ordinary racing simulator, instead of playing with cars you play with space ships through out a variety of tracks that were amazing, not only graphically but also in terms of difficulty.
Now, the analysis:
The graphics shown on this game, aren’t exceptional, but at that time they were very much, at least for me, they really took my breath away. And so I will have to take that in to consideration in my rating. In terms of sound this game was incredibly ahead of time, bringing a hole compilation of real musics (such as, and my personal favourite, The Prodigy’s Firestarter). This game was a major success because all of these aspects and many more, such as the ability for each ship to acquire weapons to crumble its opponents, such as missiles, energy fields, mines, etc; and, of course, the fact that these ships can gain an incredible speed, and to race around a track in such a speed without hitting the walls is an excellent challenge of your reflex capacity and really provides an experience that is out of this world.
Accelerated adrenalin rush for future people

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee

Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey cover

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – (personal opinion) This is one strange but very entertaining game. It gives you a very different experience from other games. I first saw this game in a Playstation demo CD and thought it wasn’t much of a game but I got so curious that I started playing it and in time I started to see what an intelligent game that was. Remember Flashback for the Sega Megadrive? It has the same gameplay, but instead of a man with a gun, you play with a alien that has to save his friends (99 of them if I am not mistaken) from slavery and annihilation by making them run through escape portals your character summons. The intelligent bit about this is that most of the time you cannot be seen by the enemy or you (or your friends) will be shot. For the purpose of saving your 99 friends your character has only the ability to talk (by saying "hi" and "follow me", "wait", etc) and the ability to possess one certain enemies, making them do whatever you want (note that it takes time to possess and you cannot do it in front of the enemy, obviously), so, as you can see, this game has a great plot and a revolutionary gameplay. As for graphics, this game is played entirely with your character in side view, almost 2D but it is actually 3D, for you have always a sense of depth in the game, but can’t quite explore it. But this level of graphics makes the game very interesting and, in my opinion, better than if it was made in 3D. In terms of the sound capability, Abe’s Odyssey has an adequate music and sound effects, that don’t dissimulate the effect the game has on the player, and I particularly like the sinister and dark beginning music. Another great detail of this game is the fact that in the end of the game there are two possible scenarios, if you were a great hero and saved at least half of the aliens you were supposed to save you get the good scenario; if you were slack and didn’t give a shit about your friends and had less than half of the aliens saved, you get the bad ending; which makes you fight not only for your survival but also for the survival of your friends (if this doesn’t make you any less selfish, you are hopeless).
In the end, this was a great surprise for me as a game, and I know that it could be for you too.
A game where you must be the true hero

Need For Speed Most Wanted

Need For Speed Most Wanted cover

Need For Speed Most Wanted – (personal opinion) The eagerly anticipated sequel to Need for Speed Underground 2. This game, for me, was much more exciting than it’s predecessor. Although NFSU2 has some aspects that I consider to be remarkably ahead of NFSMW, in terms of entertainment NFSMW wins. Let’s analyse. Comparing, both of these games have very similar graphic capability, which is very good indeed, for both of them have graphics that are incredibly realistic. As for the sound in this game, one is as great as the other, with a great variety of songs, I can only give NFS Most Wanted the 1st place in terms of music because of my personal style, I really like the songs from Mudvayne, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, etc. In terms of details, I am sad to see that the development of the game in terms of tuning didn’t go forward, in fact, it downgraded. Before you could use lots of different parts to equip your car to the utmost detail, now you can’t even put neon, or equip scissor doors, etc. This game would have a 10 if it weren’t for this detail. As for the entertainment, I have already said that NFSMW gives a much better experience because of the police factor. The fact that you can engage the police and try to evade them and so gain a bounty is excellent. The fun I had with running away and evading spike strips and helicopters and everything is unexplainable. NFSU2 would have a 10 if it could possess such a quality. In the end, I can clearly state that one game complements the other, and so, a game that merges these two titles can be the best NFS. And this is my theory (don’t you try and say its your theory and gain money with it, I have copyrights get it? And a knife too get it? Scared aren’t you? No? Damn.), now let’s hope EA makes NFS Undercover like this or better.(might I remember the reader that no one has ever gotten a 11 in my RZ RATING, let’s see if that happens)
NFS Hot Pursuit, but astoundingly better

RZ RATING (1 to 10): 9

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas cover

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – (personal opinion) regarding this particular game I can say that, in analysis, these types of games are the central games, where other games should orbit around, in other words, it is very important for other games to acquire the sense of freedom and longitude this game has. This sequel to GTA Vice City evolved very much in the sense to give an even more stunning experience than it’s predecessor. And if you can beat an excellent game, you know that you have created a masterpiece.
The only big problem I can find in this game is the fact that graphically much can be made, don’t get me wrong, it’s graphics are good, but could be much better, you can almost sense that the graphics of the cartoons you see in the beginning message are the same you see in the game itself (only in 3D). So that is an aspect that, although it was improved from Vice City to San Andreas, it could have been an even greater improvement (which was made in Grand Theft Auto IV). In terms of sound, this game carries on the reference to an in game radio, as did Vice City, playing every time you enter a vehicle (the PC version even gives you the ability to put your designated mp3 on a proper radio station), this is an excellent attribute and I believe that Rockstar Games have done very well to maintain. As for gameplay, I hive to give it to the creators of GTA, its is spectacular how they’ve made such a complex game with so many possibilities of actions, with such an easy to learn commands, very well done indeed. As for story and detail of this game, GTA San Andreas is a very well thought game, and even it’s story is very good to keep you in the edge of your seat, "watch and play as your success can be undermined by those most close to you" could be this game’s story slogan; this game has also included great details not available in GTA Vice City, such as the ability to have a gang, and have gang wars or recruit gang members; go to the gym, gain weight or muscle, you choose; and of course, GTA SA has a much bigger world to play in than GTA VC, which is always a big plus, not only in the fun you get out of the game, but also because it makes the game bigger and longer. In the end, this game is one excellent experience as you can do what you can’t do in reality, so it’s always a game that will most definitely sell.
Hey you, geek sitting next to the computer. Want to kill people like your boss or your mother in law? Buy GTA San Andreas, and thank me later.
